Sadie Training Pokey NOT TO CHEW THE RUG!

As you can see, Sadie is a good teacher!! She does this to Pokey whenever Pokey get's on the furniture, goes toward her food or basically does anything she's not supposed to do. Sadie is very patient and tolerant. So is Molly. Molly just chills while Sadie does all the work. Molly will let Pokey crawl all over her to a point, then she growls and Pokey knows to get off.

Pokey's 4th day!

Pokey is doing extremely well! Pokey is doing really great on the leash. She knows what the word 'sit' means pretty well. Just have to work on her reliability with it now. She's stubborn so it takes awhile for things to set it. She is learning "down" so you can make her lay down.

She loves to play with all the dogs. We are working on her destructive chewing and jumping up and biting.

She only bites when she's super excited. She doesn't know what to do with herself at times. So the secret is keeping Pokey calm! She clearly now knows what "shhh" means. The Cesar Millan trick. She knows if she hears that she has to back off whatever it is, whether she's jumping up or chewing something. She'll move away from it right away. This is good because it gives you instant control without having to touch her. She get's so excited around people and animals. If you keep her from getting over excited, then she'll not bite or jump up so much.

I'm also happy to announce the Pokey is learning potty training!! She needed a schedule really badly. So I got her on one. Now when you take her out she knows what "go potty!" means. You say this a few times and she'll pee. She doesn't know yet that she's also supposed to poop with "go potty" yet. She gone twice on my balcony.

Pokey's First Day!

After picking Pokey up, we headed to my place. She met my two dogs and they received her well.
Pokey is super super hyper-active!!! Whoa does she have some energy. So the first thing I did was get her stuff put away and head out on a long walk with all the dogs. This is also so they can walk together and form a bond.

At first Sadie and Molly were on my left with Pokey by herself on my right. Pokey is not very good on the leash, she wants to go in every direction. Sadie went over to the right side as she usually does then Pokey did very well staying next to Sadie. Sadie showed her what was expected. Pokey has a short attention span. She does very well then a leaf blows and she wants to investigate. Not good. I keep the pack moving forward. It's important she not get distracted by anything. Her walking was improving by the block.

45 minutes later we get back home. Pokey I noticed did NOT go to the bathroom while outside, but she drank some water and peed in the kitchen; linolium saved the day.

I thought she might be hungry. Pokey has to literally work for every single morsel of her food. I hand feed her so that she smells me on her food as well. It's also the perfect training aid. I was teaching her the beginnings of 'sit'. She caught on very quickly. You have to train her in 10 minute intervals since her attention span is short. She started barking and acting up after awhile in the house so off to the dog park we went. There were a lot of dogs. She got along great with all of them chasing them and being chased. She's not afraid of anything. She jumps on people and dogs. This dog needs manners! Once home she again got hand fed and trained for 'sit'. She did awesome...so much so that I could start adding the word. She is learning the word sit beautifully and is also great with just the hand command. I put her in her crate so she could get some alone time before I go out. She seems to love it in there which is great. More tomorrow!
